Contracts Specialist
A high-growth technology and technical engineering services business is seeking a Contracts Specialist to join their established in-house commercial & legal contracts management division, with a clear career development path to Commercial Contracts Manager.
Salary: c.£35,000–£50,000 (Negotiable, DOE) + benefits Location: Hybrid (WFH + 2 days per week at Crawley/Gatwick area HQ)
This opportunity is ideal for a junior/developing Commercial & Legal Contracts Specialist (c. 1–5 years of post-grad Contractual Compliance & Management (CCM) experience) to join a cutting-edge commercial & legal CCM team within a fast-growing technology and engineering business.
The Role
As part of the centralised, group-wide commercial & legal contracts team, the Contracts Specialist will:
- Work alongside other CCM professionals and report to the Head of CCM
- Support and progress toward leading:
- Full contract terms & conditions (T&C) analysis, negotiation, and drafting across the business’ technology networks (including hardware, software, and SaaS).
- Design, build, engineering installation, and asset management contracts (both sales & supplier-facing).

Core Responsibilities

Bid/tender/proposal, execution, in-life, and renewal stages:
- Review, draft, and negotiate B2B legal contract arrangements, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, SLA adherence, deal success, and commercial advantage.

Collaboration & Engagement:
- Work closely with the CCM division, General Counsel, and all commercial & technical departments.
- Advise Sales, Business Development, Procurement, Executive leadership, and wider technical engineering teams on commercial & contractual matters.

Process Improvement:
- Assist in developing commercial & contractual templates, playbooks, tools, and processes.

General Commercial Administration:
- Manage sales order processing, SLA management, and other ancillary tasks.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Foundational legal education (e.g., LLB, LLM, LPC, Cilex) or equivalent formal qualification (or proven hands-on experience if non-legal background).
- Demonstrable experience in:
- B2B contractual T&C analysis, drafting, and negotiation (including sales contracts, supply/agreement, NDAs, MOUs, LoIs, warranties, indemnities, IP, and commercial B2B clauses).
- Relevant B2B sector experience is preferred (particularly within engineering, engineering services, technology, or SaaS industries).

Desirable (but not mandatory)
- Familiarity with NEC3/4, JCT, or FIDIC contractual frameworks.

- Analytical & inquisitive: Willing to engage deeply with the technical sector, product/service specifics, and stakeholder groups.
- Stakeholder-focused: Able to build rapport with sales teams, technical stakeholders, and leadership (including C-suite).
N.B. Note on Clarity
This role is not seeking a qualified solicitor (e.g., SQE/SRA trained) and will not provide training routes to this qualification. Instead, it is a commercially focused CCM role, leveraging legal expertise strictly in B2B contract management & negotiation.
