Contracts Specialist
Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting for a Contracts Specialist to join our Aberdeen, UK office.
The Contracts Specialist is a core member of the commercial team, reporting to the Commercial & Tender Manager, responsible for providing support for contracting and compliance activities across Kraken’s Services Business Unit, with exposure to projects globally. The role will work with teams across the business to support contractual and compliance matters.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in reviewing terms and conditions within client invitations to tender, including insurance requirements, and highlight key risks or issues to qualify. Assist in reviewing and supporting the negotiation of legal documentation with external parties, including subcontracts, NDAs, MOUs, contractor agreements and parent company guarantees. Support the Sales and Commercial teams by identifying potential contractual and commercial risks and contributing to the development of mitigation options for review. Participate in bid reviews to support consistency and ensure alignment between commercial and technical qualifications. Prepare contractual risk summaries for review by the Commercial and Tender Manger prior to submission to the management team as part of the bid review and approval process. Attend client meetings as required, to support discussions and assist in clarifying and progressing contract negotiations. Provide support with preparing invitations to tender for subcontractor services and evaluation of proposals received for selection of subcontractors. Assist in the preparation of contract summaries to ensure key contract terms are presented to and understood by project teams. Assist in the preparation and review of subcontract agreements for major projects, ensuring flow down of terms from main contract terms and conditions. Assist in developing standard contract templates for use by functional groups to ensure consistency across the group. Support the Commercial Team to maintain accurate records of all company agreements, including property and facility agreements. Maintain current knowledge of Kraken’s standard contracting principals and compliance. Assist in creating and revising policies and procedures across the Business Unit. Carry out other contract administration and commercial support tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Essential: 4+ years in a Contracts Specialist role (or similar) working in the international marine technology/subsea services market. Previous experience in a commercial/contracting environment with sound commercial awareness and exposure to contract discussions and negotiations. Good understanding of contract administration and contract interpretation principles, with awareness of risk management considerations. Desirable: Experience in the offshore renewables sector. Knowledge of standard industry contracts, such as IMCA, BIMCO and LOGIC along with exposure to common contract documentation such as framework agreements, supply contracts, JV’s, partnerships and NDAs. High proficiency in various Microsoft Office 365 tools, including Teams and SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. PREFERRED SKILLS Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to identify risks and support the identification of risks and contribute to mitigation strategies. Self-motivated with ability to multi-task and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with conflicting priorities. Effective time management, adopting a flexible approach to work. Ability to work successfully in a dynamic team environment across departments and locations. Ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Strong planning, analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills. Strong ethical values and willingness to raise concerns to internal team members. Willing to contribute ideas and seek improvements and solutions to improve working practices. Demonstrate sound judgement and decision-making when dealing with problems. Ability to communicate with external stakeholders and clients whilst ensuring the company is always represented in a professional manner. Carry out any other tasks as required and within the competence of the job holder.
