Contracts Team Manager
Contract Team Leader – SSTL
An exciting opportunity to work in a pioneering space company as the Team Leader within the Contracts department.
You will be an effective and confident communicator – both written and verbal – with excellent analytical skills and the ability to lead a small team with influence and drive.

Key Responsibilities
As the Team Leader, you will oversee:
- Organisational leadership:
- Day-to-day operations, team coordination, and shared goals
- Contractual oversight:
- Preparing, negotiating, and managing all SSTL‘s contractual commitments, from project acquisition to completion
- Team building & development:
- Encouraging motivation, fostering collaboration, and adopting a strong team player mindset
- Mentoring & coaching:
- Providing professional growth opportunities, training, and leadership guidance
- Setting a clear team vision:
- Leading by example with transparency and initiative

Minimum 15 years of experience in the contractual field

Proven team leadership with mentoring and coaching capabilities

In-depth expertise in:
- Contract principles, drafting, and interpretation
- Risk identification & mitigation strategies

Direct experience in:
- Managing high-value, complex proposals and contracts (national and export)
- Negotiating contracts and amendments
- Drafting/negotiating agreements including:
- NDAs, licence agreements
- Heads of Agreement
- Teaming Agreements
- Memoranda of Understanding
- MOD (UK Ministry of Defence) contracting experiences:
- Single-source contracts & adherence to Single-Source Contracting Regulations

A commitment to integrity and identifying potential compliance risks, essential for SSTL’s reputation and growth
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree-level education
- Space industry experience, including:
- European Space Agency (ESA) collaborations
- UK Space Agency funding (e.g., CEOI, NSIP)
- Experience with US Department of Defense contracting

Location & Working Arrangement
- Base: Guildford (SSTL Headquarters)
- Direct Reports: 2 team members
- Reporting Line: Finance Director
- Temporary On-site Requirement: Full-time for the first 6 months
- Hybrid Working: Post 6 months, following SSTL’s Hybrid Policy
