Control Centre Team Leader
About the Role
As a Control Centre Team Leader – UK, you will support the day-to-day running of the UK Control Centre, helping ensure the safe and efficient monitoring of BESS, wind, and solar assets. You will work closely with the team to provide structure, guidance, and support, while building consistent ways of working and improving overall performance. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams and other international Control Centres to maintain service quality and operational alignment. This role will be based in Edinburgh/Glasgow (non-contractual hybrid working).
What You Will Do
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the UK Control Centre, ensuring reliable monitoring of BESS, wind, and solar assets.
- Support and develop a small team of operators, providing guidance, structure, and regular feedback.
- Set clear priorities and expectations for the team, ensuring consistent ways of working and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, including WTSR.
- Act as the main point of contact for operational topics, coordinating with internal teams, customers, and service providers.
- Drive improvements in processes and ways of working, focusing on efficiency and quality of service.
- Monitor operational performance and support actions to reduce downtime and improve response times.
- Collaborate closely with other Control Centres (Munich and Bangkok) to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing.
- Support the onboarding and training of new team members, helping build a capable and motivated team.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, renewable energy, or a related technical field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in renewable energy operations (wind, solar, or BESS), ideally within a control room or O&M environment.
- Experience leading shifts, supervising teams, or acting as a senior operator with accountability for day-to-day performance.
- Good understanding of safe systems of work and UK HSE requirements (WTSR knowledge desirable).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage operational workloads effectively.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with a practical and service-oriented approach.
- Proactive mindset, with the ability to bring structure and improve ways of working.
- Comfortable using digital tools and monitoring systems.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.

Desirable Skills:
- Experience with BESS Operations, balancing mechanism, or energy markets.
- Exposure to process improvement or quality management systems.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and on-call duties.
