Play a vital role in the systems that keep Cadent operating safely and reliably

As a Control Engineer (systems) you will operate within the ECC technical office and be trained to be responsible for managing the ECC aspects of the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and telemetry networks, and for all maintenance and change management of the control room systems utilised in ensuring the safe and efficient control of the gas networks. You will be responsible for adherence to Cadent’s and ECC’s data strategy, ensuring knowledge and understanding of ECC data, and that relevant maintenance and change controls are in place.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll collaborate closely with operational teams, system users, and technical partners to maintain high standards of performance, reliability, and system integrity.

Why you'll love this role:

  • Operational Impact – Support systems that directly enable the safe and efficient control of the gas network.
  • Technical Variety – Work across control room systems, telemetry networks, and SCADA-related environments.
  • Hands On Engineering – Play an active role in system configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration & Visibility – Work closely with the Energy Control Centre, IS teams, and operational stakeholders.
  • Continuous Development – Build specialist knowledge and progress toward expert status.
  • Critical Infrastructure Environment – Contribute to nationally significant energy systems.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
