Control Room Team Leader
Control Centre Team Leader – Peterborough
We are seeking an organised, analytical individual with a passion for route planning and logistics to join our team as a Control Centre Team Leader in Peterborough.
As a Controller Room Team Leader, you will lead a team in delivering effective planning and controlling of high-volume, time-critical transport operations, scheduling booked journeys to meet time-bound KPIs (including on-time arrivals, turnaround/collection times, and timely returns home). This is a full-time role (Monday to Saturday), with on-call duties requiring flexibility and a commitment to 24/7 service reliability (salary considerations discussed in interview).

Role Responsibilities
You will lead the Peterborough Dispatch and Planning Team with dynamic leadership and strategic oversight to ensure:
Key Leadership & Operational Areas
- Deliver seamless coordination of non-emergency patient transport services, maintaining time-critical operational excellence.
- Manage end-to-end patient transport pathways, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Line-manage the dispatch and planning team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Oversee 24/7 operational responsiveness, prioritising urgent issues (e.g., late-running vehicles, cancellations, capacity constraints) through dynamically re-planning and resource reallocation.
People & Performance Management
- Provide first-line management with day-to-day supervision, coaching, performance monitoring, and early intervention when standards slip.
- Drive a positive, accountable team culture, aligning colleagues to KPIs and service standards, while nurturing skills development.
- Lead proactive communications with stakeholders (internal/external) and handle operational challenges via strategic problem-solving.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and effective stakeholder liaison.
Process Improvement & Data-Driven Excellence
- Conduct deep dives into patient data to optimise processes, improving efficiency and patient satisfaction.
- Work with local operations to address capacity and resource challenges for seamless service delivery.
- Continuously refine dispatch and planning workflows to enhance outcomes.

Person Specification
Suitable candidates will have:
- Experience in regulated, high-pressure operational environments (e.g., logistics, route planning, KPI-driven roles).
- Proven track record in managing time-sensitive targets, leveraging systems to monitor performance and apply corrective actions.
- Strong interpersonal skills from customer-facing roles (or internal stakeholder interactions).
- Organisational and analytical abilities, withproficiency in prioritisation and multi-tasking.
- Proven leadership in team dynamics, including motivation, coaching, and resolving challenging conversations (conduct, attendance, performance).
- Meticulous attention to detail and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) confidence.
- A collaborative, sociable personality with a clear people-focus.
