Control Systems Engineer
Role description At Tata Technologies we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering and validating the products of tomorrow for the world’s leading manufacturers. Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Controls Systems Engineer to be based at our customer’s site in Peterborough 5 days per week.
Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
The Role:
The Control Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, calibration, and integration of engine control systems. This role focuses on ensuring optimal performance, emissions compliance, safety and reliability across multiple engine platforms. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including electrical, mechanical, software, and calibration engineers to deliver robust control solutions for industrial power applications.

Key responsibilities:
· Solicit and formalise system and interface requirements for new and current products.
· Define system architectures, I/O specifications, controller interfaces, and schematics.
· Contribute to FMEA, functional safety and product compliance reviews.
· Plan, develop and execute validation activities.
· Diagnose and resolve issues during development, build, and post‑production.
· Support calibration, testing, and troubleshooting using HIL, dyno, and field test environments.
· Integrate control systems with engine hardware, sensors, and actuators in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
· Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards; maintain control system documentation
Required skills & experience:
· Good technical degree in mechanical, electronic, electrical, control systems or automotive engineering.
· Strong understanding of control theory, embedded systems, and engine/automation principles
· Proven experience delivering electronic systems and software for complex products.
