Our client is a fast-growing, venture-backed SaaS company in the AI space, serving a large, global customer base. The business is fully remote with a distributed, global team.
The Role
We're looking for a hands-on Controller who owns the numbers end to end — someone who does the work personally rather than just reviewing it. You'll partner directly with company leadership and the wider finance function, bringing enterprise-grade financial discipline to a business that runs at a scale well beyond its headcount. With high transaction volumes, a subscription-based revenue model, and a lean finance team, the role demands both precision and pace. You'll begin as an individual contributor and grow the accounting function as the company scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly close process and management reporting in full — financial statements, recurring revenue metrics by product/plan, gross margin analysis, expense classification, and cost capitalization, all in accordance with US GAAP.
- Oversee billing and revenue integrity — reconcile payment processor data against internal reporting systems, track refunds/credits/disputes and bad debt, monitor processing fees, and manage recovery workflows for failed payments.
- Administer global payroll and contractor payments — run payroll for employees and international contractors across multiple platforms and currencies, and maintain the headcount and compensation records.
- Manage accounts payable and vendor relationships — invoice review and approval workflows, vendor disbursements, and company-wide spend visibility.
- Lead cash and treasury management — monitor balances across banking relationships, ensure payroll and large payments are properly funded, and maintain disciplined treasury processes.
- Support audit and diligence readiness — partner with top-tier external auditors and advisors on annual audits, diligence requests, and tax matters, keeping the books audit-ready at all times.
- Produce the recurring business reporting that leadership relies on — recurring revenue, churn, upsell, and team performance metrics.
- Own net revenue retention (NRR) reporting and cohort-level analysis of retention, expansion, and churn by product, plan, and customer segment.
- Own and evolve the finance systems stack — select and implement scalable accounting, billing, and banking tools, and drive automation wherever possible.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
