Controls Analyst
Shared Services & Controls Analyst
Contract Type: Permanent Location: Hybrid - 3 days on-site in Dunstable (LU5)
We’re seeking a detail-oriented, proactive analyst to contribute to the maintenance of strong controls across Banking, Treasury, Finance systems, access, and Accounting & Controls. The role involves supporting external auditors on IT General Controls (ITGC), performing regular control testing, documentation updates, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures while supporting Financial Control Framework (FCF) and internal controls adoption across operations.
About the Role
You’ll act as the primary liaison between the internal and external auditors, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of controls while analysing system processes. As part of a collaborative team, you’ll help maintain financial integrity and operational efficiency across critical business systems.
Key Responsibilities
- External Audit Liaison
- Serve as the main contact for external auditors on IT General Controls and regulatory requirements
- Monthly Controls Practices
- Conduct control testing and compile a detailed monthly controls pack
- Maintain accurate documentation and working papers in line with regulatory standards
- Control Evaluations
- Review and assess key financial controls to ensure robustness and compliance
- Support walkthroughs, control reviews, and governance for business processes
- Financial Reporting & Assessments
- Assist in quarterly FCF self-assessments and manage internal submissions of ITGCs
- Operational Support
- Monitor and escalate control issues, ensuring timely resolution
- Support embedded controls within daily operations and ad-hoc projects
- Fraud & Compliance
- Contribute to fraud reviews and insights to enhance existing preventive controls

Requirements
- Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Good understanding of end-to-end financial processes in Banking, Treasury, or Accounting
- Structured analytical approach and proven ability to identify risks and inefficiencies
- Strong commercial awareness with experience in multi-departmental processes
- Highly organisation and disciplined, with experience in accuracy-focused environments
- Strong communication skills—comfortable challenging others while maintaining positive collaboration
- Experience working with non-finance stakeholders and presenting findings clearly
- Knowledge of control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and familiarity with traditional accounting software
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently studying for / pursuing a finance qualification: CIMA, ACCA, or ACA
