Salary: £40k–£60k + benefits ( dependent experience )
Location: East Midlands – commutable from Nottingham, Leicester & Coventry

About the Role
Our client specialises in delivering bespoke automation and robotic systems for industrial applications. As they expand and grow, they are hunting for an experienced Controls Engineer to join a skilled team, driving machine control solutions for tailored automated machinery projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Software & Systems Development:
- Write, develop, and maintain PLC and HMI coding across automation projects.
- Design and implement control and safety systems compliant with EU Machinery Directive and international standards.

Electrical Design & Documentation:
- Create control system solutions, including selection of components and generation of circuit diagrams.
- Prepare cable schedules, installation documentation, bills of materials (BOMs) for project delivery.

Robotics Integration:
- Integrate systems with SCARA, Delta, and 6-axis robots within machine control environments.

Project Lifecycle Management:
- Oversee machine control and safety systems from design, development to commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and obtaining CE certification for final systems.

Collaboration & Communication:
- Engage with customers, suppliers and project teams to deliver projects within budget and on schedule.
Requirements
- Experience & Skills:
- At least 5 years in software design, PLC coding with experience using Omron, Siemens and Allen-Bradley hardware.
- Specialised knowledge of ePlan for electrical machine automation design.
- Proficiency with National & International safety/instrumentation standards (e.g., IECEE, ISO 13849).
- Ability to procure and manage components, documentation and safety compliance.

- Qualifications:
- Degree (or equivalent) in electrical/electronic engineering or a closely related controls discipline.
