Job Description: Conversion Rate Optimisation Manager

Why This Role Excites Us

L&G Retail is seeking a Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) Manager to oversee and drive optimisation strategies for Direct Protection customer journeys. This is a dynamic opportunity for someone passionate about:

  • Using data, experimentation, and customer insight to enhance digital journeys.
  • Ownership of the CRO roadmap, from idea formulation to impactful results.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with digital, product, compliance, marketing, analytics, and development teams.

Key Requirements

  • No financial services experience is required. We seek candidates with:
    • Proven CRO expertise (strategic execution, hypothesis testing, and roadmap ownership).
    • Commercial awareness, analytical thinking, and the ability to influence initiatives with real-world impact.

Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver a COR strategy focused on improving conversion, customer experience, and commercial outcomes for Direct Protection.
  • Manage end-to-end experimentation workflows:
    • Hypothesis creation, prioritisation
    • Quality assurance (QA), deployment, and analysis
    • Insight generation and recommendation formation
  • Maintain a CRO backlog aligned with customer insights, analytics, and business priorities.
  • Analyse data (both qualitative and quantitative) to uncover friction points, opportunities, and actionable next steps.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams: developers, analysts, compliance, marketing, product owners, and external partners to deliver effective experiments.
  • Communicate test results, insights, and business impact clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Champion CRO best practices, fostering a data-driven, customer-centric experimentation culture.
  • Innovate using personalisation, predictive modelling, and automation for seamless omnichannel journeys.

Requirements & Qualities

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Hand-on expertise managing full CRO projects, including experimentation cycles (A/B, multivariate tests, etc.).
  • Deep experience with tools like:
    • Experiment platforms (Adobe Target, Optimizely, Visual Website Optimiser (VWO), or similar).
    • Analytics (Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, or their equivalents).
  • Track record of owning or shaping a CRO strategy, roadmap, or experimentation backlog.
  • Strong grasp of UX principles, customer behaviour, and conversion best practices.
  • Ability to work across cross-functional teams (developers, analysts, compliance, product marketing).
  • Capacity to translate data and insights into clear, actionable recommendations with measurable outcomes.
  • Optional but currency-modelling familiarity with:
    • Front-end technologies, session replay.
    • Heat mapping.
    • Usability testing.
    • Agile methodologies* (e.g., Scrum).
