Head of Conveyancing and Private Client Solicitor (Maternity Cover)
Location: Lincolnshire / Hybrid Salary: GBP 30,000 – GBP 55,000 per annum (DOE) Duration: Fixed-term (9–12 months) with potential to transition into a permanent role Ref: 4466
About the Role
An outstanding opportunity to lead an established Conveyancing department and support Private Client work within a well-respected law firm. The successful candidate will provide maternity cover as Head of Conveyancing and Private Client Solicitor, overseeing both operational and compliance functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Supervision
- Manage a busy Residential and Commercial Conveyancing team, handling sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, and commercial leases.
- Oversee a personal caseload for high-quality client service.
- Take ownership of the firm’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) accreditation, ensuring:
- Ongoing regulatory compliance with SRA standards.
- Maintenance of lender panel memberships.
- Promotion of best practice across the department.

Private Client Oversight
- Supervise Wills, Probate, Trusts, and Estate Planning work.
- Mentor junior solicitors to uphold high client service standards.
- Contribute to departmental business planning and policy development.

Operational Excellence
- Implement and enforce internal policies aligned with the Conveyancing Protocol and SRA guidance.
- Ensure seamless operation of legal case management systems.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Solicitor with 3–12 years Post-Qualifying Experience (PQE).
- Experience:
- Extensive in Residential and Commercial Conveyancing.
- Proven supervisory or management track record.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong technical and organisational abilities.
- Confidence in legal case management software.
- In-depth understanding of regulatory compliance in modern law firms.
- Advantaeous experience with CQS accreditation or lender panel maintenance.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent mentorship and leadership aptitude.
- Strong commitment to client service.
