We are looking for an organised and proactive Conveyancing Assistant to join our busy property team, supporting both commercial and residential conveyancing matters. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced legal environment, delivering excellent client service while developing their expertise in property law.
This role will be based in Peterborough on a full-time (37.5 hours per week. Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:30) permanent contract.
The Role
You will provide high-quality administrative and legal support to our lawyers, helping to ensure transactions progress smoothly and efficiently from instruction through to post-completion. The role combines diary and document management, client liaison, and hands-on conveyancing support across a broad range of matters.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support to lawyers and team members, ensuring excellent client service at all times
- Manage diaries, emails, and communications to keep matters progressing efficiently
- Prepare, format, and process legal documentation and correspondence
- Handle incoming calls and queries professionally and promptly
- Maintain accurate client records and update the document management system
- Support billing processes, including preparing invoices and credit notes
- Assist with file audits and ensure compliance with AML, SRA, and internal procedures
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing post for the department
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to support matter progression
- Provide administrative support across teams as required, including holiday cover
Conveyancing Duties
- Assist with a range of transactions, including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, remortgages, and transfers of equity
- Submit property searches (e.g. local authority, drainage and water, environmental)
- Support the progression of files to ensure deadlines and service levels are met
- Carry out post-completion work, including:
- SDLT/LTT submissions and payments (HMRC/WRA)
- Preparing and submitting Land Registry applications
- Managing Land Registry requisitions and queries
- Reviewing completed registrations
- Liaise proactively with clients, agents, lenders, and other third parties to maintain momentum on transactions
About You
- Previous experience in a conveyancing assistant or legal support role is desirable
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a busy environment
- Confident communicator with a professional and proactive approach
- Good IT skills and experience using case management system
