A busy and highly regarded Regional Law firm has an exciting opportunity for a Conveyancing Assistant to join their team in Chelmsford on a full-time basis.

As a Conveyancing Assistant within the Residential Conveyancing team, you will play an integral role in supporting the solicitors and ensuring clients receive an exceptional service throughout their home moving journey.

Working as part of a collaborative and experienced team, you will provide administrative and case management support across a broad range of residential property transactions. You will help progress matters efficiently from initial instruction through to exchange and completion, ensuring files are managed accurately and clients are kept informed at every stage.

Following the successful completion of your probationary period, you will be eligible for our hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive administrative support to the Residential Conveyancing team
  • Preparing legal documents, correspondence, completion statements and bills of costs
  • Assisting with residential property transactions from instruction through to completion
  • Carrying out Land Registry applications and pre-exchange searches, including Local Authority and Chancel searches
  • Progressing matters efficiently while ensuring compliance with legal requirements
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders, solicitors and other third parties
  • Managing enquiries by telephone and email, providing clear and professional updates
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date files and documentation
  • Supporting fee earners across the department as required
  • Handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion

About you

  • At least 3 years' experience within residential conveyancing
  • Substantial legal property knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a busy environment
  • Confidence using conveyancing systems, Land Registry applications and property searches

Individuals with Residential Property experience should apply without this experience unfortunately you will not be considered for this role.
