Conveyancing Assistant/Paralegal

Reporting To: Conveyancing Fee Earner

The Conveyancing Assistant/Paralegal will assist the conveyancer with all conveyancing files, working towards the exchange and completion of the property as well as providing admin support within the conveyancing transaction process.

This role involves but is not limited to:

  • Opening files on the case management system and setting up paper files
  • Providing cover for telephone and email diverts
  • Photocopying, filing, and scanning
  • Undertaking ID Checks & Conflict Checks
  • Greeting clients and taking initial paperwork when required
  • Speaking with site offices and developers' solicitors when required
  • Speaking with clients and taking accurate messages for the conveyancing fee earner
  • Applying for searches
  • Updating client portal
  • Completing and submitting Land Registry forms
  • Updating file checklists in readiness for exchange & completion
  • Preparing files for archive procedure
  • Providing clients, estate agents, and mortgage brokers with updates on the process
  • Keeping proactive knowledge of the stages of each conveyancing file
  • Ensuring SLAs and compliance are adhered to
  • Keeping updated with industry and law changes
  • Where required, completing accreditation and internal training within specific timeframes

Requirements:

  • Residential conveyancing/legal experience
  • Legal qualification or working towards – CILEX/CLC/Law Degree
  • Being organized, hardworking, motivated, and enthusiastic
  • High levels of organization and administration skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
