Who we are looking for
State Street Investment Management is seeking an accomplished senior engineering and transformation leader to serve as Global Head of Front Office Re-Engineering, Senior Vice President, based in either Boston or London office.
Reporting to the Global Head of Investments and Business Services within the COO organization, this is a hands-on engineering leadership role accountable for enterprise execution, solution architecture, and modernization of front-office technology supporting a ~$6T global asset manager across equities, fixed income, multi-asset, and alternatives. The leader will drive scalable, resilient, secure, and data-enabled capabilities across portfolio management, trading, real-time investment data/IBOR, risk, analytics, and AI-enabled engineering.
This leader will execute a multi-year modernization strategy defined by the Global Head of Investments and Business Services in partnership with senior Investments, Technology, Operations, Risk, and Data stakeholders. The role will build and manage a distributed global engineering organization across India, the United States, and EMEA, translating strategic priorities into executable roadmaps, modern platforms, adoption at scale, and measurable business outcomes.

As the investment platform evolves, this engineering role will be critical to simplifying and scaling multiple portfolio management platforms, reducing fragmented data and workflow complexity, strengthening real-time investment data foundations, and enabling AI at scale for investment engineering teams.
The successful candidate will bring strong front-office engineering depth, enterprise execution discipline, solution architecture capability, design thinking, and a design-for-failure mindset. This role requires a proven delivery track record, strong understanding of AI-enabled engineering, and a player-coach leadership style that combines strategic influence with hands-on technical engagement.
What you will be responsible for
As Global Head of Front Office Engineering & Re-Engineering, Senior Vice President you will
- Own enterprise execution of front-office re-engineering priorities, translating the multi-year strategy into scalable platforms, resilient operations, measurable adoption, and business outcomes across all asset classes.
- Execute technology strategy and investment priorities established by the Global Head of Investments and Business Services with senior stakeholders, maintaining accountability for delivery outcomes, adoption, risk reduction, and value realization.
- Drive solution architecture and design thinking across the investment platform, applying API-first, event-driven, cloud-native, shared-services, design-for-failure, and resilient engineering patterns.
- Build a high-performing distributed global engineering organization across APAC, North America, and EMEA through talent development, succession planning, workforce modernization, engineering standards, and a player-coach leadership model.
- Lead engineering disciplines aligned to portfolio management, trading, investment data including real-time IBOR, risk, analytics, platform modernization, and AI-enabled software delivery.
- Drive adoption of SDLC-led AI capabilities to improve engineering productivity, software quality, testing automation, developer experience, and delivery predictability.
- Simplify and scale multiple portfolio management platforms, reduce fragmented data and manual workflows, and establish reusable engineering capabilities that enable AI at scale for investment teams.
- Provide executive-level transparency on delivery progress, architecture trade-offs, adoption, productivity gains, key risks, funding needs, and measurable enterprise outcomes.

- Strong front-office engineering expertise across portfolio management, trading, investment data, real-time IBOR, risk, analytics, and data-driven investment workflows.
- Player-coach mindset with the ability to engage hands-on in architecture, engineering decisions, delivery challenges, and talent development.
- Strong solution architecture capability, including design thinking, design-for-failure, API-first design, event-driven platforms, microservices, shared services, cloud-native engineering, and resilient data platforms.
- Practical understanding of leveraging AI to improve investment workflows, engineering productivity, software quality, testing, documentation, and SDLC effectiveness.
- Proven track record delivering complex, multi-year technology modernization programs with measurable business value, operational resilience, and enterprise adoption.
- Ability to simplify complexity, scale fragmented platforms, rationalize data and workflows, and align business and technology teams around practical execution plans.
- Demonstrated commitment to resiliency, risk management, regulatory readiness, cybersecurity, engineering controls, and enterprise technology standards.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline required.
- 25+ years of experience in asset management technology, front-office engineering, portfolio management and trading platforms, investment data/IBOR, AI-enabled engineering, or large-scale technology transformation.
- MBA, Master’s degree, CFA, PMP, Agile, SAFe, architecture, cloud, engineering, or AI-related professional certifications preferred.

Additional requirements
- Position based in Boston/London with responsibility for global front-office engineering and modernization initiatives.
- Travel up to 25% may be required.
- Salary Range: £160,000 - £280,000 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
