Hours: 24 hours per week Salary: £13.45 per hour
About The Role
We are seeking a Second Chef to join the Runwood Homes Hospitality Team.
As a Second Chef, you will:
- Deliver hotel and restaurant-standard meals in person-centred ways.
- Serve as a senior support role to our Head Chef.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, quality, and presentation.
We’re looking for a warm, motivated, passionate individual who is:
- Driven by excellence in food preparation.
- Willing to uphold hotel-standard hospitality to our residents.
- Able to take the lead in the Head Chef’s absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high food preparation standards for resident wellbeing.
- Adhere to Company menus and regulatory requirements (e.g., Food Safety & Hygiene Regulations in England/Northern Ireland).
- Ensure quality, presentation, and taste of all meals produced.
- Manage portion control to minimise waste.
- Accommodate individual dietary and nutritional requirements (e.g., low sugar, high-calorie needs).
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and efficient cooking environment.
- Properly store food and other stock items.
- Monitor stock levels, ensure rotation, and place necessary orders.
- Deputise for the Head Chef when required.

About You
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience in a catering environment (or food service role).
- Strong knowledge of special dietary and nutritional needs.
- Holder of a Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate (mandatory).
- Preference will be given to candidates with an NVQ Level 2 in Food and Drink Services, or equivalent.

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
