Join our culinary team at Edith Cavell Lifecare & Village and create delicious, nutritious meals that make a meaningful difference to the lives of our residents.

At Edith Cavell Lifecare & Village, we are a 60-bed Care Home and Hospital complemented by 7 village units, nestled beautifully in Christchurch’s Sumner Village. Our culturally diverse team—comprising individuals from around the world—shares a common passion for caring, empathy, and nurturing a supportive community. This is what makes us whānau (family).

About the Position

  • Location: Edith Cavell Lifecare & Village, Christchurch
  • Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time (16 hours)
  • Shifts: AM, PM, and weekends available

We are seeking an experienced Cook who loves working in a culinary environment and believes good food enhances well-being. You’ll thrive with a positive attitude, a deep appreciation for nourishing food, and an ability to work harmoniously with people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare hearty, nutritious meals catered to all residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
  • Ensure high-quality standards, reliability, and willingness to assist wherever needed.
  • Maintain a welcoming dining experience that boosts residents’ well-being.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in catering and food service, ideally within a commercial kitchen setting.
  • A culinary qualification or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
  • A true passion for creating wholesome food and delivering exceptional dining experiences.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and a friendly, empathetic approach in a necessary role.
  • An ability to meet and exceed quality standards.
