Cook – Cygnet Acer Clinic

We are looking for an outstanding Cook who’s passionate about food and wants to make a difference.

You’ll be working Full time (10-hour shifts from 8am to 6pm, including some weekend work) and creating an excellent experience for the people in our care at Cygnet Acer Clinic.


About the Role

Acer Clinic is a 28-bed service providing assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for women with personality disorder, complex needs, or acute mental health needs.

Care is provided in a therapeutic environment, with a level of security matched to individual needs. The treatment, rehabilitation, and re-socialisation programme aims to prepare residents for either:

  • Transfer to lesser-secure conditions
  • A life in the community

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and serve nutritional, balanced, and appetising meals
  • Provide special diets, taking individual preferences and needs into account
  • Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients’ nutritional and dietary requirements
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas, and dining room
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, Food Hygiene Regulations, and COSHH procedures
  • Handle, maintain, and store kitchen equipment in line with Cygnet procedures

Essential

  • Skilled Cook able to work under pressure
  • Preferably experienced in the care sector
  • Ability to plan nourishing, attractive menus within available budgets
  • Food hygiene certificate (held)
  • Maintains high personal hygiene standards
  • Polite and professional with a positive attitude towards all investigations
  • Excellent communicator, able to liaise with people at all levels
  • Capable of working independently, as part of a team, and under supervision

Desirable (not required but beneficial)

  • Previous experience in a secure care environment

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
