Good food plays an important part in daily life. As a Cook in our care home, you'll prepare nutritious, home-cooked meals that help residents stay healthy, feel valued and enjoy mealtimes that are often the highlight of their day.

Working as part of a friendly team, you'll help create menus that reflect residents' preferences while ensuring meals meet a range of dietary and nutritional requirements.

Working Pattern

This role is 4 days out of 7, with alternate weekend working required.

What You Will Do

  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks for residents
  • Plan menus that meet dietary, nutritional and cultural requirements
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
  • Monitor food stocks and support ordering and stock control
  • Ensure meals are prepared and presented to a high standard
  • Support special events and celebrations through food preparation
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure residents' preferences are reflected in menu choices

About You

You will have experience working in a professional kitchen and be confident preparing meals for larger groups. You'll understand the importance of nutrition and be able to cater for a range of dietary requirements. A Food Hygiene qualification is essential and a relevant catering qualification would be advantageous. Most importantly, you'll take pride in your work and understand that good food can make a real difference to someone's day.
