About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Cook Supervisor to join our Alternative Provision school in Newhaven, serving pupils aged 11–16.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a passion for catering
- Be highly motivated and resilient
- Work effectively as part of a supportive team
- Commit to engaging with pupils in a positive, calm, and caring manner
You’ll find a dedicated, caring staff and governing body, and opportunities to grow through induction training and ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals
- Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are maintained
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and professionalism in a team setting
- Engage positively with pupils in a constructive and supportive way
- Work closely with academic and pastoral staff to adapt to the school’s unique needs

Working Conditions
- Hours: 20 per week (4 hours per day), term-time only
- Location: Newhaven site of East Sussex Skills Academy
About Us
We are the commissioned Alternative Provision for students who have been permanently excluded from school or are at high risk of exclusion. Based across three sites, our priority is to provide taught and pastoral support while upholding a safeguarding-first approach.
All staff must undertake an enhanced DBS check as part of the recruitment process.
Important Notes
The successful applicant must comply with the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018. If disqualified, the offer of employment is subject to Ofsted waiver approval.
