Location: Eaton Court Nursing Home Eaton Ct, Grimsby, Lincolnshire, DN34 4UD Salary: £14.11 per hour
About the Role
A talented Chef or Cook can bring to life simple ingredients that evoke memories, creating warmth and comfort. At Orchard Care Homes, we value our kitchen staff and offer training, support, and the flexibility to excel.
This role involves working closely with the Home Manager and care staff to:
- Create nutritious, balanced meals tailored to residents' preferences and needs
- Supervise the team preparing daily meals on time
- Manage food orders, stock levels, and kitchen equipment
By ensuring strict adherence to food safety guidelines, you’ll maintain a kitchen that delivers excellence daily.
Key Responsibilities
Meal Planning & Preparation
- Plan, prepare, and cook varied, nutritious, and appealing meals tailored to residents' preferences, dietary requests, or medical needs, while following Orchard Care Homes’ Good Food Guide
- Adjust meals (with authorisation) to ensure alignment with individual requirements

Team Leadership & Environment
- Foster a supportive, positive, and encouraging workplace culture
- Provide mentorship and guidance to the kitchen team with empathy and professionalism
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements are understood and met, including:
- HACCP
- Health & Safety
- COSHH
- Food Safety Manuals
- Environmental Health standards
- Care Standards Act guidelines
- Infection Prevention & Control policies toward a safe residential environment
Kitchen Hygiene & Maintenance
- Implement and monitor cleaning schedules to maintain impeccable standards per Food Safety Manual
- Ensure Utensils, work surfaces, and all facilities remain immaculately clean after every use
Stock Management & Procurement
- Oversee food stock levels and manage timely ordering from approved suppliers
- Monitor stock rotation to ensure freshness and highest quality meals for residents
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of texture-modified diets and management of food allergens
- Expertise in creating personalised meal plans to cater to individual health conditions
