Copywriter
Application Deadline: 26 May 2026
Department: Marketing & Communications
Location: Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity
Compensation: £36,011 / year
Description
Know how to craft compelling copy that cuts through and connects with audiences?
Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity is looking for an experienced Copywriter to join our Content team. A key member of the Content team, you’ll help shape compelling fundraising and brand communications while maintaining high editorial standards across the charity.
Salary
The salary for this position is £36,011 per annum and we operate a hybrid working policy, requiring the successful candidate to work from our London office at least two days per week.
In line with our EDI strategy and Total Reward policy, we calculate our salaries based on benchmarking data across the charity sector. To ensure fairness for existing staff and new joiners, we do not offer salaries above the advertised rate.
Key Responsibilities
No two days are the same, so you’ll be an adaptable and organised writer who can confidently manage competing priorities and deadlines.
You’ll have experience writing fundraising or supporter-focused copy within a charity or not-for-profit organisation and understand how to create persuasive, audience-led content that motivates supporters to engage and take action.
As well as being a strong writer and editor, you’ll be proactive, collaborative and confident building relationships with stakeholders across an organisation. You’ll be comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day projects while working closely with the Senior Copywriter on high-profile campaigns and strategic projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
