Core Java / Backend Developer – Solution Delivery (Microservices)
📍 Location: London (Cannon Street – 8 days onsite per month)
🗓️ Duration: 12 months (likely extension)

The Role
We're looking for an experienced Core Java / Backend Developer to support the migration of a legacy application to a modern microservices-based platform. You'll work in an Agile environment, delivering scalable backend solutions using Spring Boot, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes while collaborating with architects, technical leads, and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, deploy, and support backend solutions across the full SDLC.
- Contribute to the migration from legacy applications to microservices and event-driven architecture.
- Build scalable backend services using Core Java and Spring Boot.
- Ensure solutions align with engineering standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, and business stakeholders.
- Support and mentor junior developers.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve software delivery, code quality, testing, debugging, and development efficiency.

Required Skills
- Strong Core Java experience.
- Spring Boot & Microservices.
- Kafka / Event-Driven Architecture.
- Docker & Kubernetes.
- Unix/Linux.
- Object-Oriented Design (OOD).
- TDD / BDD.
- Performance tuning & profiling.
- Cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude, or Gemini within the software development lifecycle.
