We’re BDO. An accountancy and business advisory firm, providing the advice and solutions businesses need to navigate today’s changing world.

Our clients are Britain’s economic engine – ambitious, entrepreneurially-spirited and high‑growth businesses that fuel the economy - and the owners and management teams that lead them.

We’ll broaden your horizons

Our Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions Tax team works with a range of clients, from entrepreneurial start-ups to recognised high street names and global corporations. We offer services including tax strategy and governance, tax technology, banking and insurance, diligence, tax structuring and more.

So, there’s plenty of variety from one day to the next. Whether building great relationships with clients or colleagues, you’ll be supported by a team that brings out the best in you.

Tax is a dynamic, ever-changing industry. As our clients’ needs and the regulatory environment evolve, you’ll encounter new problems to solve and new opportunities for growth. Whether it’s advising clients on high-profile specialisms like Corporation Tax or leading the implementation of intelligent technology solutions, you’ll enjoy variety as well as stretch in your role.

BDO supports all kinds of different businesses in different sectors across the UK and around the world. You’ll be providing Tax Advisory services to start-ups and scale-ups, to private businesses and FTSE listed multinationals. Each of our clients has different needs and in applying your expertise in different contexts, you’ll develop your skills and gain valuable experience that will serve you throughout your career.

We’ll help you succeed

Our clients trust us because of the quality of our advice. That quality grows from a thorough understanding of their business, and that understanding comes from working closely with clients and building long-lasting relationships.

You’ll be someone who can work pro-actively, managing your own tasks, but you’ll also be confident collaborating with others, communicating regularly with senior managers, Directors, and BDO’s Partners to enable us to serve our clients effectively.

You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to our clients.

We are looking for someone with;

  • A proven track record of transaction tax operations and who is comfortable leading a range of tax due diligence, both buy side and sell side, and tax structuring assignments.
  • Strong technical excellence as well as the ability to think commercially and to communicate tax technical issues to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead a variety of tax due diligence and tax structuring projects, working closely with other specialists within the firm and the transaction support team.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of certain key transaction relationships, e.g. key private equity accounts.
  • An in depth, up to date, knowledge of taxation with specialist knowledge and the ability to deal with complex tax issues arising on transactions
  • Demonstrable relevant transactions experience
  • Project and staff management experience
  • CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
