About the Team
The FIS Legal team is comprised of 200+ attorneys and paraprofessionals worldwide, part of the Legal, Compliance & Corporate Affairs (LCCA) group. This includes professionals who serve as advisors and partners to our businesses, working collaboratively across teams to solve problems effectively and pragmatically.
Our role is one of strategic enablement and support for business leaders in legal, compliance and corporate affairs, assisting them in meeting objectives with sound, reasonable, and well-considered legal counsel and compliance analysis.
This role sits within the FIS Regulatory Legal team, a global group that provides expert legal advice on:
- Financial services and technology laws and regulations
- Regulatory policy matters
- Engagements with regulators
- Regulatory compliance and financial crime risk
- Sustainability regulations
- Antitrust and competition issues
The team ensures FIS’ products, services, and regulated entities have the legal support necessary to operate in compliance with applicable regulations, serving as a trusted and strategic partner to all global business functions.
Key responsibilities include both day-to-day advisory work and issue-driven support.
What You Will Be Doing
This is an exciting opportunity to join the FIS Regulatory Legal team, reporting directly to the Chief Regulatory Counsel.
As Global Expert in AI Legal and Regulatory Matters, you will:
- Serve as an SME on AI legal and regulatory matters globally, partnering with specialists across the LCCA group and key stakeholders like Risk, Technology, The People Office (TPO), and the Commercial Office.
- Guide the business through rapidly evolving AI laws, rules, and regulations, implementing a scalable control environment that balances growth, innovation, and compliance.
- Partner with Public Policy as a thought leader on AI regulatory policy and legislative developments.
- Provide specialist legal support in developing sustainable AI policies, governance frameworks, and trust-related artifacts.
- Advise on regulatory notices, inquiries, exams, or correspondence in relation to AI with regulatory agencies.
- Lead and oversee gap assessments against evolving AI laws, rules, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Partner with Business, Data Privacy & IP Legal teams to advise on AI-related contract terms in client and vendor agreements.
- Advise Marketing & Communications on draft publications from a legal perspective.
- Evaluate and advise on regulatory risks and mitigation strategies for new AI products and partnerships across the company.
- Provide training and awareness to colleagues on compliance with emerging AI regulations and AI regulatory risks, including legal counsel to TPO on AI colleague enablement and training literacy.
- Partner with Cybersecurity & Data Privacy to advise on high-impact AI and cybersecurity intersections.
- Direct and manage relationships with outside counsel, ensuring delivery of timely, high-quality, and cost-effective advice.

What You Will Need
- J.D. with active membership in at least one state bar or admission to practice in the UK or EU.
- 8–12 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a relevant legal practice area.
- Deep expertise in evolving global AI laws, rules, and regulations, including:
- EU AI Act
- U.S. state AI regulations
- Adjacent fields for consideration: Financial Services Regulatory, IP, and Data Privacy.
- Strong communication, research, writing, and analytical skills—ideal for drafting advice while working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to review and evaluate complex issues, counseling business colleagues on legal questions across regulatory Challenges.
- Experience advising clients in complex, global organizations with a track record of prioritizing multiple projects and driving them to completion.
- Confidence to provide sound legal advice, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate seamlessly with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
