Job Overview
The Corporate Governance Officer supports the Head of Corporate Governance and the Corporate Governance Manager in ensuring the Health Board operates in accordance with statutory regulations, maintaining robust corporate governance across the organisation.
fluency in Welsh is desirable for this role; both Welsh and English speakers are welcome to apply.
Main Duties of the Job

Committee Secretariat & Meetings Support
- Act as secretariat for designated senior organisational committees and groups.
- Manage formal decision-making and reporting processes, including:
- Composing agendas, agreeing them with committee chairs.
- Attending meetings (including those outside normal office hours).
- Drafting prompt, succinct, and polished minutes of proceedings.
- Summarising key decisions/actions for dissemination across the organisation.
- Ensuring documentation adheres to quality standards and reputational safeguards through stewardship, tact, and diplomacy.
- Handle sensitive or complex issues with guidance from senior governance managers where needed.

Administrative & Compliance Support
- Coordinate and maintain high-quality record-keeping systems, including:
- Registers, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Facilitate publication and distribution of agenda papers in timely (digital or hard-copy) formats.

Qualifications & Knowledge
- Essential:
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience/qualifications.
- Desirable:
- Recent evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Experience
- Essential:
- Proven experience in administration and corporate governance, preferably within the NHS or public sector.
- Familiarity with Board structures, committee operations, and associated policies/procedures.
- Desirable:
- Prior experience in corporate administration (NHS/public sector).
- Experience in project management and/or hardware integrated database systems.

- Strong task prioritisation and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Tact and diplomacy in maintaining professional standards.
- A competent, confident communicator versed in directing interactions and scrutiny.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office and advanced IT systems.
- Highly organised, with adaptability to manage competing responsibilities across multiple projects.

- Intermediate to advanced Welsh language skills (Levels 1–5 in spoken, written, and reading comprehension).
