If you’re a corporate lawyer in Manchester who wants more than just progression on paper, this role offers something genuinely different.
This is for someone who is starting to think more seriously about influence, visibility and what the future could look like.
You might be in a position where you are thinking “I could build this better”, then this is the opportunity that actually lets you. Not by asking you to take a risk and build something from scratch, but by giving you real backing from day one. Manchester is a clear strategic priority here, not a satellite office and the intention is to build properly and for the long term.
You’ll be part of a growth story, not just watching one unfold.
The opportunity
A genuine chance to shape and build the Manchester corporate practice as part of a well-established and highly regarded national team.
- You’ll work closely with a small but growing local team, with immediate access to high-quality work and an existing client base.
- The team is regularly advising on high-value, complex transactions, including deals at the top end of the market where £1bn transactions are not unusual.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
