The Corporate Lead for Patient Safety and Compliance

The Corporate Lead for Patient Safety and Compliance is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the Trust’s patient safety, quality governance, and compliance agenda. Working across the organisation, the post holder will provide expert leadership on patient safety systems and risk management, ensuring compliance with national policies and frameworks, including the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).

You will lead the identification and translation of learning from incidents, complaints, patient experience, and quality data into meaningful improvement programmes that strengthen patient safety, promote transparency, and embed a culture of continuous learning.

The role also has oversight of incident reporting and investigation processes, Duty of Candour compliance, and the effective triangulation of quality and patient experience data to support informed decision-making and service improvement.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Deputy Chief Nurse, play a key role in leading the Trust’s programme of improvement for Quality and Professional Standards, ensuring services consistently meet CQC fundamental standards, safeguarding requirements, Trust values, and strategic objectives.
• Manage specialist teams and work collaboratively with Heads of Nursing, governance leads, matrons, service managers, and corporate support teams to deliver high-quality, safe, and effective care.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for patient safety, quality governance, and regulatory compliance across the Trust.
• Working closely with clinical and corporate teams, lead the delivery of the patient safety agenda, ensuring learning from incidents, complaints, and quality reviews is embedded into practice to improve patient outcomes, experience, and safety.
• This influential leadership role will support Directorates in managing complex patient safety and compliance issues, drive the use of quality data and insights to inform improvement, and foster strong engagement with service users, carers, and staff.
• Working alongside the Deputy Chief Nurse and senior leaders, champion a culture of continuous improvement, support workforce development, and ensure services consistently meet national standards and regulatory requirements.
