Role Overview We are looking for a proactive and commercially aware Junior Solicitor (1–2 years’ PQE) to join our friendly and collaborative Legal team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop strong in‑house commercial experience within a fast-paced, technology‑focused business. Working as part of a supportive team of six solicitors and two paralegals supporting business units and central functions, you will receive guidance and supervision from experienced colleagues while gradually taking on more responsibility as your confidence grows. This position is ideal for someone early in their career who is keen to broaden their skill set, gain hands‑on exposure to a wide range of commercial matters and build strong relationships across the business. Key Responsibilities Commercial Contract Support Review, draft and assist in negotiating a variety of commercial agreements (under supervision as appropriate), for example: NDAs Software licence agreements Professional services agreements Data processing and data licence agreement Work with internal templates and escalate non‑standard positions to senior team members. Business Partnering Provide clear and practical legal input to internal stakeholders with guidance from senior lawyers. Build positive working relationships with teams such as Sales, Delivery, and InfoSec. Risk & Compliance Help identify and communicate key legal and commercial risks, escalating issues appropriately. Support the team in maintaining consistency with CACI’s standard contractual positions. Assist with data protection queries and contract compliance matters. Process & Continuous Improvement Contribute to the development and refinement of templates, playbooks and legal processes. Support legal operations initiatives, including contract lifecycle management and automation tools. Team Collaboration & Learning Work closely with other solicitors and paralegals, sharing knowledge and learning from more senior colleagues. Participate in training sessions and internal knowledge‑sharing activities. Key Skills & Experience Essential Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 1–2 years’ PQE and ideally 1 year’s in-house experience. A good understanding of contract law including: Rules relating to contract formation Direct vs indirect damages Warranties and indemnities. Strong drafting skills (including experience of amending contractual clauses) and excellent attention to detail. A working understanding of UK GDPR and general data protection principles. Exposure to intellectual property issues (e.g. copyright in deliverables). Clear and confident communication style. Ability to manage competing priorities with support from the team. A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn. Desirable Experience in a technology, data, or consulting environment. Use of AI tools to do legal research and analysis of contracts. Some exposure to employment law (e.g. TUPE) would be helpful but is not essential. Litigation or company secretarial experience would be a bonus. Ability to obtain government vetting (BPSS or SC) if required for future work.
