Corporate Media Relations Executive

Corporate Media Relations Support Specialist – London, New Oxford Street

At GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), our Corporate Media Relations team safeguards and enhances the company’s reputation with global financial, health, and science media. In this role, you’ll support the team by:

  • Managing critical processes,
  • Assisting with major announcements, and
  • Contributing to global media strategy.

This is an exceptional opportunity for early-career communications professionals to develop within a global organisation while mentored by experienced professionals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Systems & Process Management:

    • Oversee global media monitoring and social listening.
    • Produce insight reports and recommend actionable strategies to enhance reach and impact.
  • Media Response & Issue Management:

    • Handle media enquiries and corporate issue responses with accuracy, speed, and alignment with legal, medical, and business partners.
    • Support plea campaigns, crisis readiness, and senior leader briefing preparations.
  • Media Campaign Coordination:

    • Assist in planning and executing global media programmes to strengthen GSK’s reputation.
    • Brief senior spokespeople and adapt messaging for local markets.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Work closely with regional/local teams to ensure consistent messaging.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience or a strong interest in media relations, communications, public affairs, or journalism.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills—clear, accurate storytelling for external audiences.
  • Fast-paced communications environment experience, demonstrating judgment, precision, and detail orientation.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders effectively.
  • Flexibility to work across time zones with occasional travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry experience in life sciences, healthcare, or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Familiarity with global media teams and cultural adaptation.
  • Track record in social amplification and owned media programmes.
  • Proficiency in media analytics tools.
  • Public affairs or stakeholder engagement experience within a corporate setting.
