Purpose of the Role
As a Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Apprentice, you’ll be part of the team helping drive positive change across Lanes Group and its wider businesses. You’ll work closely with the Group Head of ESG, supporting initiatives that improve how we operate socially, environmentally and ethically.
You’ll help bring ideas to life—working with colleagues across the business to promote sustainability, support community projects, and make sure we’re doing the right thing for the future. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a growing and important career area, while building your confidence and influencing real change.
Working in a busy, fast-paced environment, you’ll use systems, policies and guidelines to help solve problems, manage queries and keep everything running smoothly. This role is a great opportunity to build your confidence, develop strong people and problem-solving skills, and gain hands-on experience that supports the wider business.
Apprenticeship Information
- Level: 4 Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Apprenticeship
- Duration: Approximately 20 Months + EPA
- Hours: 37.5 per week
- Annual Salary: £23,000 (The advertised salary applies to the first year of the apprenticeship and will increase in the second year, subject to satisfactory progress, attendance, and commitment to the programme)
- Qualification: Delivered through an approved training provider
- Dedicated study time: Provided as part of your working week
- Ongoing support: From your manager, mentor, and training provider

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Group Head of ESG with admin tasks and help collect great examples of the positive work happening across the business
- Help build a network of community and sustainability champions across different teams
- Get involved in raising awareness of sustainability and social responsibility, helping employees understand how they can make a difference
- Deliver and support simple, engaging training to help people understand sustainability and why it matters
- Help turn real projects and activities into case studies and stories that showcase the impact our teams are making
- Support initiatives that bring our ESG strategy to life in a practical way
- Work with teams like HR, Learning & Development, HSEQ and Finance to gather information and share ideas
- Support bid teams by helping pull together information on our sustainability performance and commitments
- Connect with local community groups and organisations to support volunteering and social value activities
- Help teams take part in community and environmental projects that make a real difference
- Carry out research to understand sustainability trends, rules and best practice
- Keep up to date with new ideas and support the team in improving how we work
- Complete all required apprenticeship learning, assignments and off-the-job training
- Participate in regular reviews with line manager and training provider

Qualifications & Training
Essential
- Maths and English at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent of Grade C-A*) or Functional Skills Level 2
- Qualified to A-Level (x2) standard or equivalent in relevant subject(s) such as Geography, Science or Mathematics
- ICT literate in all Office applications
- Familiarity with the sustainability agenda and a passion for preserving the planet and supporting local communities
