Role Overview
This is a rare opportunity for a senior corporate solicitor who's keen to step off the standard City track and into a genuinely differentiated practice. Our client is built around the high value niche of sport, and it's given them a seat at the table on some of the largest and most complex deals of their kind. It's the sort of work that would normally sit with a much bigger platform.
Responsibilities
In this varied role you'll be working on high quality corporate transactional work: company sales, joint ventures, growth stage investment, and high value M&A, much of it involving private capital. Deal sizes and complexity are a step up from what's typical at this level. You'll be running a genuine work mix, some deals with a heavy regulatory and governance layer alongside the transaction itself, others more conventional in structure but bigger in scale.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Beyond the deal work, you'll get real breadth including advisory work on governance frameworks and helping set up new commercial structures from scratch. It's a range of work that's hard to find in a traditional corporate practice.
Requirements
This role will suit an experienced lawyer at Senior Associate or Managing Associate level who's built a solid grounding in private company M&A, joint ventures, and venture style deals at a leading City practice. Our client is looking for someone who wants more ownership, more variety, and closer client contact than a larger firm typically offers.
