Corporate Tax Manager
The Grant Thornton Advisors (NI) Tax Team is an ambitious and growing team of over 80 specialists, bringing together deep industry, sector and technical expertise. Our Corporation Tax Compliance client base continues to grow significantly, with increasing demand from owner-managed businesses, large groups and internationally active clients.
We are seeking a Corporate Tax Manager to join our team and play a key role in supporting this continued growth. The successful candidate will bring strong technical corporation tax knowledge, the ability to apply that expertise to complex client issues, and the confidence to manage and lead teams on demanding assignments.

Main responsibilities:
Responsible for the overall management of a portfolio of clients, including client relationship ownership, technical risk and financial performance. Leads delivery teams, resolves complex technical issues and drives client growth and business development.
Portfolio and delivery
- Manage a portfolio of clients that are sizable in scope, complexity and risk, with accountability for delivery.
- Approve and sign off key deliverables, ensuring appropriate technical judgement and compliance with firm standards.
- Oversee portfolio workflow, resource allocation and utilisation across the team.
- Ensure effective planning and delivery of engagements across the portfolio.
Client responsibilities
- Act as the primary relationship owner for clients, with accountability for client satisfaction and retention.
- Lead client interactions on complex or sensitive matters, including managing challenges and escalations.
- Identify opportunities to expand services and deepen client relationships.
Technical responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight and final judgement on compliance and related advisory matters.
- Lead resolution of complex technical issues, particularly in large corporate and multinational contexts.
- Ensure appropriate use of specialists where required and maintain overall technical quality.
Risk and compliance
- Take ownership of engagement risk, ensuring appropriate procedures and controls are applied.
- Make decisions on risk management and escalation, including involvement of specialist teams.
- Ensure adherence to firm risk management processes and standards.
People responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop team members, including Managers where relevant and junior staff.
- Take responsibility for work allocation and team structure; formal performance management and appraisals and ongoing coaching and development.

Financial management and business development
- Be accountable for the financial performance of the portfolio, including budgets, billing and recoverability.
- Meet financial targets and actively manage engagement profitability.
- Participate in business development activities, including proposals, pitches and tenders.
- Contribute to the growth of the wider tax practice.
Skills and Qualifications:
- ACA/ACCA and/or CTA qualified.
- Significant post-qualification experience within a corporate tax department in a large practice environment.
- Strong technical expertise, including experience dealing with complex tax issues affecting large corporates and groups.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritise a portfolio of work, balancing competing demands and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and develop team members, including providing formal feedback and performance management.
- Comfortable making decisions and exercising judgement on technical, risk and client matters.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted client relationships and influence key stakeholders.
- Proven ability to identify opportunities to grow client relationships and contribute to business development.
