About the role
As a Product Development Manager at MOOD London you will be in charge of developing innovative products that give the business a competitive advantage in the market by blending creativity, commercial awareness, and technical expertise to ensure every product aligns with the brand identity, market trends, and customer expectations while remaining commercially viable.
The Product Development Manager will be responsible for leading the end-to-end process of creating and launching new fragrance products. The PDM will oversee the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept through packaging, pricing, and launch strategy, to create and improve products that meet customer needs and company goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strategic plans, product roadmaps, and assess market opportunities and emerging trends through research, competitor analysis, and customer insights for product innovation.
- Collaborate with perfumers, creative teams, and suppliers to develop new scents and product lines across all categories (body, home, accessories etc)
- Create and present product briefs defining the concept, target audience, pricing strategy, and desired sensory profile.
- Oversee the entire development process, managing timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure products are delivered on time and within budget.
- Ensure all products comply with UK and EU cosmetic regulations (UK Cosmetics Regulation, IFRA standards, CLP labelling).
- Approve formulations, packaging specs, and product safety documentation.
- Assist with research on new market opportunity and competitor benchmarking for new product development or upgrades.
- Manage cross-functional collaboration between Marketing, Design, Operations, Retail and Sales teams to plan launch timings, merchandising, and promotional materials.
- Ensure product design, scent profile, and packaging meet quality standards, customer experience, and are aligned with business goals.
- Oversee sample production, POS materials, and training content for store teams.
- Evaluate post-launch performance and collect feedback to improve future product lines.
- Support operational processes such as freight coordination and shipment tracking.

About you
In this key position, you will play a crucial role in identifying business opportunities, developing and executing product strategies, and ensuring alignment with company objectives. Your expertise will drive business growth, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- A degree in a relevant field such as science, cosmetic science, product design, business management, marketing, engineering.
- 8 years of experience in the beauty, cosmetics and retail industry
- 3-5 years of proven experience managing product development from Design brief through to finished product in a luxury or contemporary fashion environment.
- Strong understanding of fragrance composition, raw materials, and the creative process.
- Knowledge of cosmetic product compliance (especially IFRA, CPNP, and product safety assessments).
- Excellent project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders.
- Proficient in data analysis, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions to guide product development.
- A commercial mindset with strong understanding of business goals, metrics, and how to develop products that drive business growth
