Maraen Port of Nigg Job Opportunity

Maraen Port of Nigg is going through an exciting period of growth, and we are looking to recruit a Cost Controller who will become an integral member of the team that’s shaping the future of energy and manufacturing solutions.

This will be a permanent and full-time role based at Port of Nigg near Tain and the successful candidate will provide a hands-on approach to budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and reporting.

Role Overview

The role of Cost Controller is essential in ensuring cost efficiency, accurate reporting and alignment with the Maraen Port of Nigg strategic objectives. The position will be responsible for all financial aspects of the operational performance of the business unit.

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Establishing good working relationships with all managers and supervisors to ensure that information is readily available so that all enquiries and tenders can be responded to efficiently
  • Assisting in ensuring that the project control requirements for Maraen Port of Nigg are enforced in accordance with the contractual requirements
  • Ensuring that the project controls systems provide the best possible tools for staff on each project, allowing them to work efficiently
  • Populating EVOX with the necessary activity and sub-activity codes
  • Ensuring cost and charge-out rates for all staff and direct project personnel are accurate
  • Establishing baseline cost budgets in line with estimates submitted for the project
  • Reviewing contracts highlighting and resolving any issues prior to signing
  • Acting as a mediator between the Project Manager and the client and helping to close out any issues raised during the project life cycle
  • Reviewing the EVOX Hire Register on a weekly basis for any hires that require extending or closing
  • Checking and approving invoices in line with company policy and controls
  • Ensuring all necessary commercial documentation is filed correctly and in a timely manner
  • Compiling sales invoices for approval and submission
  • Creating client billings, highlighting possible overspends and assisting with monthly cost reconciliation
  • Preparing monthly management accounts as required

Mandatory

  • Relevant experience in cost control, finance, or accounting in a similar/relevant role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and analytical skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in the energy, oil & gas, or manufacturing industry
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and react to changing deadlines
