Cost Engineer – Intermediate Cost Intelligence Manager
Cumming Group is an international project and cost management consultancy delivering innovative solutions across infrastructure, real estate, and construction.
We are looking for a Cost Engineer to join our growing Intermediate Cost Intelligence Manager team, supporting some of the UK's largest infrastructure and water sector investment programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in estimating, cost engineering, quantity surveying, project controls, commercial management, or cost analytics who is looking to broaden their expertise and work on nationally significant projects.
The Role
Unlike traditional estimating positions, this role focuses on understanding, validating, benchmarking, and assuring project costs to support major investment decisions. Working alongside experienced Cost Intelligence specialists, you'll help clients assess affordability, cost confidence, risk, and deliverability across major infrastructure programmes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
