About The Role
SharkNinja seeks a self-driven Cost Engineer to support Shark and Ninja product lines by developing exacting "should be" cost models throughout the product development lifecycle. We prioritize delivering affordable innovation, usability, and superior consumer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support development of a complete product definition
- Collaborate with ** Advanced Design (AD) and New Product Development (NPD) teams** to determine product architecture, manufacturing methods, and component configuration
- Generate "ball park" cost estimates during the AD phase by coordinating with product details
- Produce accurate “should be” cost models reflecting the latest product definition at every prototype build phase
- Review supplier-provided CBOMs (Component Bills of Materials)
- Create cost analysis reports or PowerPoint summaries highlighting cost variances for teams
- Validate and audit “should be” costs for accuracy
- Develop a critical components list, coordinating with the supply chain to obtain vendor quotes
- Offer cost-saving design strategies to optimize production expenses without compromising performance or consumer value
- Tear down competitive products to analyze materials, components, and structural assembly methods, identifying key differentiators
- Prepare weekly project updates and contribute to regular cost team collaboration calls with our China-based partners
- Engage in product reviews and development "hacks"
- Debug, analyze, and dismantle electro-mechanical products

Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience in consumer products or high-volume production environments is a must
- Demonstrated analytical organizational skills, with relentless attention to details, possessing a natural drive to identify lowest possible costs
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for cost modeling and data analysis
- Thorough understanding of plastics, tooling, electronics, assembly techniques, decoration, packaging processes
- Ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Intermediate proficiency in CAD tools (Solidworks or CREO) is essential
- Strong presentation skills to effectively summarize findings, identify opportunities, and tailor recommendations for decision makers
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
- Prior experience in product development-oriented roles is preferred
- Familiarity with mechanical engineering fundamentals and manufacturing techniques, including injection molding
