Job Overview
An exciting opportunity awaits for an Intermediate MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Cost Manager to join our London-based Real Estate team. You’ll support a longstanding, high-profile client in the telecommunications and technology sector, managing their extensive national estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on MEP deliverables in larger projects or manage standalone MEP commission works, such as asset upgrades.
- Develop early budgets, provide initial estimating, and create cost plans.
- Monitor design teams against budget targets, oversee tendering (single and two-stage) and procurement, and deliver post-contract reporting.
- Mentor Assistant Cost Managers and Cost Managers within the MEP team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors and MEP supply chains.
- Support the development of MEP digital systems and tools, and promote best practices industry-wide.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Proven success in high-quality cost management/quantity surveying across the full project lifecycle.
- Professionally qualified (or working towards qualification) in RICS or equivalent.
- Degree/HNC in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Ability to level and negotiate initial tender returns, with clear recommendations.
- Experience managing change control processes—including cost negotiations.
- Reviewing payment applications and preparing recommendations.
- Conducting final account reconciliations.
- Evaluating and validating cost build-ups and rate analysis.
- Basic proficiency in Cost X for cost estimating.
- Proactive engagement with contractors and clients as needed.
Additional Assets:
- Use of benchmarking data to inform cost decision-making.
- Ownership of updating and tracking the Client Workbook (tracking change orders).
- Willingness to embrace detailed, process-driven tasks to support the client’s objectives.
