Cost Planner & Senior Cost Planner – Infrastructure (Rail, Airports, Highways, Water or Utilities)

About the Role

Due to continued demand and growth, we are recruiting Cost Planners and Senior Cost Planners with proven experience in the Infrastructure sector (Rail, Airports, Highways, Water or Utilities).

Cost Planners at Turner & Townsend act as embedded resources within client organisations or support ad-hoc projects globally, with flexibility to work remotely (from the UK) as required.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cost Planner, you will:

  • Produce accurate, comprehensive estimates and cost plans, spanning:
    • Order of Magnitude estimates to detailed first-principles-based estimates
    • Estimating assurance
    • Estimating support during major programme set-up
    • Estimating data management
  • Lead independent production of estimates with minimal supervision
  • Drive and promote best-practice estimating across the team
  • Align work with departmental objectives
  • Stay updated on technical advancements to provide best-in-class advice
  • Support change control processes within projects
  • Demonstrate Value for Money through:
    • Benchmarking analysis
    • Proprietary venture reporting
  • Conduct commercial assurance and negotiate contractor offers

Requirements

  • Qualifications:
    • Chartered status or equivalent (e.g., RICS, CIOB, Association of Cost Technicians)
    • Degrees or equivalent in Quantity Surveying/Estimating (or equivalent professional credentials)
  • Experience:
    • Proven track record in estimating, cost planning, or quantity surveying in large-scale projects
    • Direct experience using estimating software (e.g., Microstation, Primavera, CostX, proprietary tools)
    • Best practice adherence in infrastructure cost management
