Costs Paralegal

Paralegal – Insurance and Costs (Litigation, Advisory and Regulatory)

About the Role

A vacancy has arisen for a Paralegal to join our Insurance and Costs team within the Litigation, Advisory and Regulatory department.

The claims team acts for a wide range of private and public sector clients, including:

  • Insurance companies
  • Local authorities
  • NHS Resolution
  • Government bodies

Claim Work Scope

  • Road traffic collisions
  • Employers' and public liability
  • Property damage claims
  • Insurance disputes and policy interpretation

Claims vary in value from the low thousands to catastrophic claims with damages reaching several million.

Costs Team Role

The costs team supports clients referred by other partners and handles direct costs instructions, providing ongoing support throughout litigation, including:

  • Reservations and budget advice
  • Commercial decision-making
  • Negotiation of costs on conclusion

Responsibilities

The Paralegal will provide chargeable and non-chargeable support primarily to the claims team, with potential contributions on the costs side. Key tasks include:

Operational Support

  • Managing and reporting management information across the book of claims using Excel and I-Sheets, ensuring data integrity
  • Maintaining team critical date calendars and ensuring compliance with court directions
  • Assisting with case timetables for procedural compliance

Case Management & Procedures

  • Supporting disclosure and procedural steps
  • Managing CRU Registration and updating certificates
  • Reviewing and managing the Claims Portal
  • Arranging conferences, court directions, and medical appointments
  • Handling court enquiries

Research & Client Engagement

  • Conducting legal and case-specific research
  • Ensuring accuracy in client-facing communications and timekeeping

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Exceptional organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage workloads under tight deadlines

  • Both verbal and written communication skills, with client-facing confidence
  • Proficiency in maintaining data integrity in legal environments
