Company Description

At That Happiness Project, the focus is on making mental health services accessible and inclusive for individuals from all backgrounds and financial circumstances. The organization has supported over 2,000 clients across multiple countries and conducted more than 200 workshops, primarily with schools, NGOs, and NPOs. Originating from a year of fully pro bono services, the initiative is grounded in the belief that mental well-being is a fundamental right. That Happiness Project now collaborates with freelance counsellors and therapists to offer individual sessions, expanding its reach while continuing partnerships with mental wellness centers and community organizations. The team aims to create a positive ripple effect in society through soft interventions that reduce stress and promote personal well-being.

Role Description

The Counselling Trainee internship role at That Happiness Project is a remote position focused on supporting mental health services and community initiatives. Day-to-day responsibilities may include:

This internship is designed to offer practical exposure to mental health work while contributing to accessible, impact-driven services.

Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of counselling principles, mental health concepts, and basic therapeutic approaches.
  • Strong active listening, empathy, and non-judgmental communication skills when interacting with clients and communities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, uphold ethical standards, and demonstrate professionalism in all communications.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for creating workshop materials, reports, and client-related documentation.
  • Organizational and time-management abilities to handle remote work, scheduling, and follow-up tasks effectively.
  • Comfort with digital tools such as video-conferencing platforms, online forms, and basic office software for remote collaboration.
  • Currently pursuing or having completed studies in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or a related field (or equivalent experience in mental health settings).
  • Interest in community mental health, social impact initiatives, and working with diverse and underrepresented populations.
  • Openness to supervision, feedback, and ongoing learning to develop as a counselling professional.
