Seasonal Student Counsellor (BACP Accredited)

Start Date: September 2026 (For the 2026/2027 Academic Year)

Location: University of Glasgow (On:campus)

Rate of Pay: GBP28.00 per hour + GBP3.38 accrued holiday pay (Totalling GBP31.38/hr inclusive of 12 holiday pay)

Contract: Part:time, flexible hours to suit your schedule

About The Role

Are you a dedicated clinician passionate about supporting young adults and mature students through pivotal life transitions?

Randstad is proud to partner with the University to deliver exceptional, clinical mental health support that directly impacts student well:being and academic retention. We are seeking highly qualified, BACP:accredited counsellors to join our team for the upcoming academic year.

In this role, you will deliver professional, short:term, solution:focused therapeutic interventions, empowering students to navigate the unique pressures of university life, manage complex mental health challenges, and achieve their full personal and academic potential.

  • Clinical Intervention: Provide tailored, 1:1 short:term therapeutic counselling utilizing evidence:based, brief analysed models (e.g., CBT, SFBT).
  • Caseload Management: Support students facing a wide spectrum of presenting issues, including:
    • Academic life cycle pressures (dissertation stress, exam anxiety, procrastination, and study:related blockages).
    • Personal growth challenges (identity, transition, self:esteem, and relationship dynamics).
    • Clinical presentations (anxiety, depression, and eating concerns).
  • Outcomes Monitoring: Systematically administer and interpret clinical outcome measures (including CORE10) to track treatment effectiveness and inform clinical decision:making.
  • Safeguarding and Risk Management: Strictly adhere to institutional risk assessment and safeguarding protocols, ensuring swift and appropriate escalation of complex, high:risk cases.
  • Professional Conduct: Maintain absolute client confidentiality in full compliance with GDPR and ethical frameworks.

To thrive in this specialised higher education environment, you must possess:

  • Accreditation: Accredited membership with the BACP (MBACP Accred).
  • Clinical Experience: A minimum of 400 post:qualification clinical hours, with a proven track record of managing a regular, structured caseload.
  • Sector Expertise: Prior experience providing clinical support within a UK Higher Education setting, including familiarity with university administrative and referral pathways.
  • Modality Proficiency: Strong experience utilising brief, solution:focused, or manualized therapeutic models.
  • Compliance and Safety: Evidence of ongoing regular clinical supervision and a valid professional liability insurance policy.
