Newly Qualified Helpline Counsellor – Office Based

Location: Hinckley
Hours: 37.5 hrs/week
Salary: £28,000 plus excellent benefits

Remit

Compass Associates is proudly working with the leading Employee Assistance Programme provider, to recruit for newly qualified Counsellors, to join their graduate training programme in Hinckley.

Upon joining, you'll complete a comprehensive five-week induction programme, giving you the knowledge, skills and confidence to use the internal systems, navigate a range of clinical scenarios and provide safe, effective support to helpline callers.

This is a fast paced role which is based within their Helpline Division, providing compassionate, safe, in-the-moment emotional support and guidance to callers experiencing emotional distress or a mental health crisis. During each call, you will conduct clinical and risk assessments, provide appropriate advice and signposting to relevant services and professionals, and maintain accurate clinical records.

Following successful completion of the six-month Graduate Programme, you will be promoted to the role of Wellbeing Counsellor. Alongside your helpline responsibilities, you will have protected time each week to manage a small caseload of clients, delivering one-to-one counselling sessions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
