Counter Sales Warehouse Person – Howdens Joinery

About the Role
Join Howdens as a Counter Sales Warehouse Person and play a critical role in the success of your depot. You’ll be the first point of contact for trade customers, balancing sales and warehouse duties to deliver a reliable service. From initial conversations to final collections, you’ll build strong customer relationships while ensuring stock is organised, accurate, and ready for dispatch. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where every action contributes to exceptional customer service.

What We Are Looking For
- A valid forklift licence (desirable)
- Experience in sales, retail, or customer service environments
- Driven by sales targets and excellent customer service
- Ability to adapt quickly to a varied, fast-paced workload
- Confident and friendly communicator with strong relationship-building skills
- Clear ability to explain products and solutions to trade customers
- Good understanding of stock control and health and safety protocols
- Strong attention to detail, especially when handling stock and records
- Professional literacy, numeracy, and time management skills
- Customer-focused approach with a friendly but professional attitude

Key Responsibilities
- Selling the full range of products and services
- Achieving and exceeding sales targets while supporting depot performance
- Processing orders, pricing, and delivery management
- Generating and following up on sales leads
- Assisting with warehouse operations to ensure smooth depot function
- Upholding health and safety standards (e.g., forklift checks, deliveries)
- Unloading and checking incoming stock accuracy
- Conducting daily equipment checks (e.g., forklift trucks)
- Securing outgoing stock for orders/deliveries
- Conducting weekly stock audits
- Stock rotation and maintaining a tidy, organising warehouse
- Supporting deliveries, collections, and general warehouse workflow
