Counter-UAS Engineering Lead Associate Contractor

Location: Hybrid expected 2 days per week at Abbey Wood, Bristol

Rate: £500 per day

IR35: Inside IR35

Security: Current SC clearance required | Sole UK nationals only

Infinity Systems Engineering Ltd. is seeking an experienced Counter-UAS Engineering Lead to support a high-priority UK defence requirement. This associate contractor role will help deliver an interim Counter-UAS engineering capability for Phase 1 of the programme supporting an urgent operational requirement.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across requirements, test and evaluation, supplier assurance, stakeholder engagement and safety-related engineering activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical requirements development, including System Requirements Documentation.
  • Define and support test, verification, validation and evaluation activity.
  • Review and assure supplier technical data, trials and evidence.
  • Provide technical advice to engineering, safety and senior defence stakeholders.
  • Support safe planning and delivery of supplier tests, trials and evaluation activity.
  • Identify and assess technical hazards to support safety artefacts and assurance.
  • Help shape the engineering roadmap for future phases of the programme.

Essential Experience

  • Current SC clearance.
  • Sole UK nationality.
  • Engineering leadership experience within defence, aviation, air systems, Counter-UAS, UAS, complex weapons, sensors or similar regulated environments.
  • Strong background in requirements, technical assurance and supplier engagement.
  • Experience supporting test, trials, V&V, experimentation or evaluation programmes.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulation, airworthiness or MOD assurance environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and technical communication skills.
  • Able to work hybrid, with 2 days per week expected at Abbey Wood, Bristol.

Desirable Experience

  • Counter-UAS or Uncrewed Air Systems experience.
  • Experience with MOD, DE&S, Abbey Wood, UK ranges or defence acquisition environments.
  • Knowledge of safety, airworthiness or Defence Ordnance Safety Regulator requirements.
  • Experience producing engineering plans, test plans, safety artefacts or hazard analysis outputs.
