Courier Driver


**Courier Driver – Full-Time (37.5 hrs p/w) | Shrewsbury |

About the Role

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00.

The primary purpose of this Courier Driver role is to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of goods and equipment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining clear communication with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Accurately completing both electronic and paper-based records for deliveries and collections, ensuring tasks are carried out correctly and within scheduled timescales.
  • Loading, unloading, and moving goods (including manual handling) via tail lifts and roll cages.
  • Operating a range of vehicles—from small vans to 3.5-tonne Luton vans—using only a category B (UK manual) driving licence.

Other duties include:

  • Adhering to road safety legislation and vehicle checks.
  • Acting as the customer contact point and relaying key information.
  • Maintaining route planning and operational communication.
  • Ensuring the safe and secure handling of all items.
  • Complaining with a polite and courteous manner to customers and road users.

Requirements

Essential

  • A full manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Experience or aptitude for route planning and time management.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Customer-focused mindset and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Familiarity with the local area (Shrewsbury & surrounding regions).
  • Good literacy & numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Manual handling capability (lifting, heavy goods).
  • Willingness to drive varied vehicle types (including larger Luton vans).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • HMRC record checks (photographic ID via the UK Government Gateway).
