Courier Driver - Various Shift Patterns

Courier Driver (Permanent/Full Time) – EMED Group (NW10, Northwest London)

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Courier Drivers to join our team in Northwest London (NW10). This critical role involves the safe and timely transportation of medical samples, consumables, and sensitive information for NHS patients and healthcare services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving vehicles (from small to medium vans) across scheduled routes, maintaining punctuality and safety.
  • Handling and securing deliveries while adhering to manual handling guidelines.
  • Communicating professionally with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders in a customer-focused manner.
  • Recording deliveries (both digital and manual documentation) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Complying with all legal standards, including the Road Traffic Act, health and safety regulations, and company policies.

Vehicles will be taken home, and no travel costs will be incurred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute courier journeys to assigned locations within scheduled times.
  • Complete legislative and organisational documentation accurately and securely.
  • Maintain regular communication with the operations office via phone/email/ato-relation software.
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and transport of medical goods and sensitive documents.
  • Conduct pre-drivetime vehicle checks and report any defects.
  • Represent the company politey and professionally, ensuring a positive experience for customers.
  • Operate and manage route planning efficiently to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Collaborate as part of a team while also demonstrating self-motivation and independence.

Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Must hold a UK Full Manual or Automatic Driving Licence (on a category B license).
  • Minimum 12 months’ driving experience before applying, no more than 6 penalty points on licence.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team while maintaining accountability.
  • Strong customer service skills with a calm, professional demeanour.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proven route planning and time management abilities.
  • Access to an up-to-date local knowledge of NW10 and surrounding areas.
  • Must be fit for manual handling and able to safely lift/transport goods.

Desired Skills

  • Previous experience in medical courier, healthcare transport, or similar delivery roles.
  • Confidence when handling sensitive or confidential documents.
  • Familiarity with traffic-prone areas in London.
  • Basic IT proficiency (ability to operate PDA if required).

Vehicle & Training

  • Small to medium vans (category B vehicles) will be assigned.
  • Training on company software/PDA systems provided as needed.
