Course Information
Course Code and Title: EDEA 342-001/002. Curriculum and Instruction in Drama Education.
Description:
Pedagogical theory and practical applications in the teaching of developmental drama, dramatic forms, improvisation and theatre arts. This course is not Team taught or offered online.
Term: Fall 2026
Credits: 3 credits
Location: Education Building (EDUC 115)
Schedule: Tuesday, 02:35 pm-05:25 pm
Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs)
Education:
- Master educator with an MA in a relevant field e.g. Applied Drama, Drama in Community Contexts, Theatre, Acting) and/or extensive relevant experience as a school artist-educator in drama and theatre.
- PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset.
Experience:
- Expert knowledge of:
- How to use developmental drama in the elementary classroom.
- Theoretical and practical underpinnings of drama education.
- Using/integrating drama across the elementary curriculum.
- Planning, teaching and assessing drama education lessons and units.
- Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level.
- Experience as a master teacher in drama education or theatre in the Quebec educational system.
- Familiarity with the Professional Competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
