About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor to join our dedicated and expanding team in our Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts department.
As a Court of Protection Solicitor, you will collaborate closely with the Firm’s Court of Protection Senior Associate to deliver person-centred support to protected parties.
Your role will involve providing expertise in cases where individuals lack the capacity to manage their property, affairs, and financial decisions, alongside a strong understanding of the interplay between health, welfare, and financial matters. You will offer technical guidance and mentorship to your team while managing a diverse and volume-driven caseload with professionalism and efficiency.
Reporting directly to the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts, this is a full-time, permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients in Court of Protection cases, including:
- Applications for deputyship
- Statutory wills
- Property and finance decisions
- Related trust matters
- Prepare and review legal documents, including court applications and financial reports.
- Manage and evolve deputyship cases from inception to resolution.
- Administer cost applications efficiently.
- Handle nursing and residential home funding disputes.
- Oversee deprivation of liberty (DOLS) and safeguarding matters.
- Ensure compliance with file management procedures.
- Stay updated on legislative changes and case law to maintain accurate advice and compliance.
- Foster a pro-active approach, deliver exceptional client care, and contribute to business development and marketing efforts to support volume growth.
- Perform additional tasks as reasonably required by the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
You should:
- Be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience managing your own Court of Protection caseload.
- Have a strong foundation in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated regulations.
- Demonstrate proven expertise in:
- Managing a diverse caseload of Court of Protection matters.
- Case assessment, planning, and resolution.
- Exhibit exceptional analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Possess exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, including translating complex legal issues clearly for clients and stakeholders.
- Show strong advocacy skills, with experience representing clients in Court proceedings.
- Uphold a high level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
- Deliver self-motivation, prioritisation, and deadline awareness while working independently.
